Taking advantage of great wifi in the RV park we are staying in to write a quick post before we go back into the mountains. The wifi was so good we were able to stream two episodes of Game of Thrones! To answer some questions I've seen in the comments section of the blog -. We have no specific route or plan we are following. We hav a general idea of places we want to see but not in any order. We went south in Arizona because it was so windy in the northern part of NM. We have not yet gotten to Santa Fe or Taos but intend to. We have planned to go into the Rockies but not yet as they have a foot of snow in Denver this week! So we only decide things a day or two in advance after checking weather. I would have thought that would be stressful but not so. We met a number of tourists when we were birding in the Chirachau Mts. People were very friendly. We never meet anybody when we stay in the RV parks. People arrive in these big bus affairs and sit inside and watch TV. Many people do want to see our camper because it is somewhat unusual. Cocktail hour is the best time to see and talk with other travelers. People in tents are really interested because it is so much better than sleeping on the ground. We are usually pretty tired in the evening particularly if we've had a long driving day but we are traveling with DVDs so we can watch an hour or so of something each night.on a computer. We just finished the masterpiece show Indian Summers which was good.

Life on the road

I'll be in Denver on Friday people there say the weather changes four seasons sometimes in one day ! It's a crap shoot what to wear ! Stay safe and enjoy yourself !
Sounds great to have no particular plan for travel. Spend more time as you like it. My question is when you detour due to Mother Nature are the places close enough to try again. Rain & more rain here.
It was almost 100F here on Wed and today it's supposed to snow in the local mountains, so keep checking the weather forecasts. It's pretty variable this time of year.
Where is here "unknown ". In any case. We are religious about checking the weather thanks
So you are finding good places to camp that are not "camping grounds" full of RV's? I like the idea of a camping trip like you are doing, but we have sometimes found, when we car camp in a campground, that it's kind of backwards - going from the quiet in the country where we live, to a crowded, noisier campground with lots of close neighbors. So I guess my question is, are you finding some small, sparsely populated campgrounds with more private sites?
Paula we are traveling in off season which I think is the key thing. While many campgrounds get full most travelers are our age. So no kids no noisy parties. We do not need water electric or sewer hookups so we avoid most of the big buses. There is not a lot of privacy to sites yet as spring is just starting. When we camp on forestry lands it's never crowded. Today we are eight miles outside of Santa Fe in a forestry campground. Very remote even though close to SF
